The EVIE anti-litter education program focuses on educating our most impressionable citizens by encouraging them to assume responsibility for their environment. Our goal is for these young citizens to learn that not only is littering wrong and an eyesore, but it is also harmful to all those who live on our planet, Earth. We anticipate that through our efforts at school and home, children will be inspired to correct litter problems one step at a time while realizing that each step they take will make a difference.
Our new mascot, EVIE, represents the philosophy that every volunteer is essential in keeping Evansville beautiful. Through our understanding of a child’s natural love of animals, we know that EVIE’s outlook on litter and her desire to retrieve will capture the attention of Evansville’s youngest citizens and future leaders of our community.
We bring this program to our wonderful Evansville schools with the confidence that our primary grade teachers will be our cheerleaders and promote this program and its goals. Knowing that our schools are faced with very busy schedules and mandates for accountability, we have included some of the Indiana State Standards that are addressed in the EVIE program. Please contact the Keep Evansville Beautiful Education Coordinator with any questions or input you may have regarding this initiative.
Teachers do not just teach us…..
They influence our behavior,
They mold our character,
They nurture creativity,
They shape our future,
And the best of the best
Inspire us to make the Earth
A better place.
